How do you get back up?

For salespeople

Resilience.

Are you one of those people who are effervescently enthusiastic?  Someone who never has a down day and the sun is always shining?  No?

Me either.  But I am resilient.  Some of it’s my nature and most of it’s been developed over time.  I have been fortunate to surround myself with people with sunny dispositions, pets who make me smile every day, and work that I love – so lots of reasons to be happy and grateful.

As a salesperson, I can’t afford to stay down when stuff happens and neither can you.  Some of it starts with intentions – what are you looking to accomplish and what are the actions and thinking that will make that happen?  Some of it is expectation – what do you expect the other person to do and is it realistic or wishful thinking?  Some of it is planning for what we don’t want to happen so that when it does we’re ready – like Tiger Woods playing effectively in the rain.

Create something for yourself to get back up when you get down.  My godmother relied on saying “This too shall pass” and sure enough, it did.  You owe it to yourself, your company, your customers, and your team.  Take a look at what didn’t work, make a new plan, and then shake it off, get back up and keep going…looking through the front windshield and not the rear view mirror.

Now, go sell something.

Love,
Jody
